Point-of-care ultrasound refers to the practice of trained medical professionals using ultrasound to diagnose problems wherever a patient is being treated, whether that's in a modern hospital, an ambulance, or a remote village, Battalion Aid Station, Special Operations Combat Medic, or along the contact line in the JFO.
Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) is a diagnostic modality that can provide real-time information at the bedside making it the ideal initial assessment for any patient, especially the trauma patient. In addition to learning about the basics of Point-of-Care Ultrasound, participants will learn how to acquire, interpret, and integrate ultrasound images. Core ultrasound applications will be introduced in a lecture format followed by hands-on practice.
